I know that frogs are the go-to for fishing lily pads, but what if that's not catching them and pads are the predominant cover?

Frogs and braid. I also have a fluke rig tied on (braid) to follow up any missed strikes. I have also fished plastic frogs (Stanley Ribbet and Zooms Horny Toad) in them with braid as well. Around the edges, I normally throw a yellow mgaic and get lots of bites that way, too. HOpe this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Vibrating jigs and swim jigs are among my favorites to throw in pads.

We just got back from Arkansas river tourney and I got my money fish with a buzzbait around the pads. We were throwing frogs but they weren't interested and any that missed the buzz was followed with a t rig rage craw or jig.

I hop spinnerbaits over the top and let them drop through any openings, same with hollow bellie swim baits on flashy spinners, year round, especially if its windy. A jig would get through easier but I like to make a lot of racket.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Love dragging an unweighted bass assasin over top and letting it fall off edge to flutter down. Most bass nail it within a few inches of going down.

Weightless Yum Dingers work well in the pads at Twak.

HB frogs; toads; buzz baits; and T-rigged, lightly-weighted, big plastic lizards. As a last resort, a black, 9" pork eel on a weedless hook sometimes works when nothing else will.

Also, there's a decent article on fishing pads in the latest B.A.S.S. Times.

I remember the Pork-O days. Non-stop fish.
