I've finally decided that I have to learn to fish deep at pool so am forcing myself to learn it this year. My question is how deep do you fish there? I see fish down around 40ft but they never bite and am doubting that they are bass. What is the deepest that you guys target them on that particular lake?

You and me both grin

Talked to a guy out there last week and he was fishing 15-20 feet. I took a pic of him and his boy with a 7 lber. I'm still trying to learn the deeper bite out there as well.

We fished yesterday and caught bass from ten foot out to twenty three foot but they were all small. I'm interested as well to see how deep anyone else might be fishing. Pool has some great deep structure just don't have the time to explore.

I usually don't fish deeper than 20-25' but I know a few guys that will fish deeper than that. I think most of those fish you are seeing in real deep water are catfish or drums. But idk for sure.

I have never had any success at depths greater than 25 feet at joe pool for bass...When I fish deep i consider it to be 10 feet to 25 feet..on Joe Pool, I have had most of my success fishing ledges or humps...in 10ft plus...of course I look for fish and more important some bait fish balls in the area..later in the summer if there is a thermocline I dont fish below that..

Caught them in 25-30 today on Pool. On D22s. Never had a bite on a plastic. Period. I tried for 5 hours on a c rig.

I have never, ever, seen that lake so crystal clear. It easily had 15-20 feet of visibility on the east arm of the lake. The three fingers area you could see the bottom easily. Really weird. I have fished the lake for years and have never had better than a few feet of stained visibity. It was almost Table Rock clear today.

In most areas, 15-20 feet targeting drop-offs. Around the bridge pilings, I've caught fish on drop-shots and shakey heads down at 30 feet.

Thanks. At least I know I am looking in the right depths then. Hopefully I'll be out there Wednesday to give it another go

I also plan to try the deeper water this year. I mostly stay in about 10 feet.

Deepest I go is 25ish but normally somewhere between 15-20. Another thing to keep in mind is there's some really good looking deep water spots on JP but those spots also get hammered so those fish get a lot of pressure. Some days I can go deep cranking and some days I end up drop shotting.

15'-30' on main lake points, humps, pond dams. Fireman's hump and nearby points, humps and points near both marinas, ledges and points at west side of dam.

I have caught them up to 41ft but I generally catch them this time of year 22-31ft after thermocline has set in.

I was out there today and it is really clear for Pool. I've seen one Little Creek get that clear once but never that much of the lake. I was skipping the marina and could see a bass following my lure a couple of feet down.
