 OPEN ironman night tournament! NO membership required, anyone can enter! Lake Athens Marina and RV Park5401 Marina Drive, Athens, TX $60 entry per boat includes big bass. 80% payout. Optional $10 7lb side-pot entry available to existing members who have fished at least one prior event in 2017. Sign up is 7:15pm - 7:45pm at the Athens ramp. After livewell check, you may launch. First cast 8:00pm, last 7:00am. Weigh in line will close 7:30am Tournament Director: Ted Martin - (two one four) 770-3348 See Texas Poormans Bass Club for complete rules This will be the 3rd year in a row for this event, we have averaged 24 boats the first 2 years.

Should be a good turn out and ALWAYS big fish brought in on Athens! Last year there was 4 over 7lbs and 1 over 8 brought to the scales.

Athens Night T Results We had 17 boats this year. Lots of slot-fish caught all night long, but no overs weighed in. Unders were hard to come by as well. The 3 lbers were biting great! I think most dumped their fish and went home thinking someone would catch a couple of overs. So it only took 5.44 to win and 3.95 to get a check!! Nobody presented a bass for the big-bass pot, again i think everyone thought someone would surely be bringing an over to the scale. So we ended up splitting the big bass among the top 3 bags. Anytime you are fishing a slot lake and are early to weigh in - weigh in something for big bass, just in case, you never know! Our next Open Night T is on LoneStar, August 5th. This will be the first time since 2011 we hosted a night T on LoneStar. I will post a thread for it in the next couple of days.

That place was a mad house Sunday! no doubt. we were off the water by 7am, but one club launched at 6am with about 18-20 boats i would guess, then another launched at 6:30 with 30+ boats. When we was coming in it looked like at least one boat posted up on every point on the lake. Saturday night it weren't bad at all. Temps were in the low 80s, nice breeze, not very many boats out. it was a perfect night for fishing - and catching slots!

Was there an incident in the parking lot that morning at some point that you know about? Heard someone say something to that affect but I didn't see anything when I was there at 6am and 8am.
