Can anyone help me with what I'm looking at here? I saw this several times today, and couldn't buy a bite. I'm very new to offshore fishing and graphs so I don't know if maybe these aren't bass or if I'm just not throwing the right baits. Any help would be appreciated.

Someone may correct me, but I've been told when they stack vertically like that it's crappie

It I think you need to bring your sensitivity up a bit, what it looks like to me is a tree or at log with nothing around it. It looks like it is something that is really attached to the bottom that your unit isn't showing the full picture.

I am no graph expert but I agree with David. Here's a similar screen cap where I needed to turn up the sonar sensitivity but the downscan tells the real story. I think those shapes would be arches if they were fish, too.

I had down scan on at one point also and never saw any trees, just white streaks at the bottom. Dropped a drop shot right on top of it too and couldn't feel anything.

I'm no graph expert either but my guess would be that what you are seeing is a school of inactive sandbass .

Might try to match your chart speed with boat speed as well.

Looks like a stump under water. Seen it a million times. It's good to run a 2d/di view if you can. Then you can compare and tweak each view to get the most out of them. Turn the sensitivity up until the screen starts to clutter up then back it down a hair for 2d. For di, turn it up until the bottom start to get to bright or white out (all one color) then back it down until you can make everything out real good. Also, go over something good like a good group of trees and put your cursor on the screen to stop the screen from moving and then adjust the settings to make it look the best. Then you can really see what each setting will do to the image
