Fished a couple of spots and the bite was good. Been hitting the water at daylight and finishing around 11am before the heat sets in. Been picking up nice Bluegill,Redear,Lonegear,Greens, and Rios. A few nice bass in the 2 to 3 pound range rounded out the catch. Fish are holding close to grass beds. Rivers and creeks were the locations fished and they are in good shape. A heavy rain shower or two will be much welcomed. Catching good numbers each trip and a few were kept for the dinner table. Worms with ultralight tackle was used. Morning summertime fishing. It just don't get any better! fish

Thanks Will for the reply. cheers This report was the result of three trips. One today and two prior. I guess the first two would be considered late spring. hmmm All the water bodies are in good shape with plenty of active fish. Looking forward to fishing with Alan tomorrow. thumb

Isn't it great? We often go out to catch panfish, end up catching as many or often even more bass than someone rigged up just for them. When bass want to eat a small presentation, we are in business!

I almost always catch a few bass, some lately up to 3 lbs., while fishing ultralight gear.

Good pics! Good job!

Brad

Thanks Brad for the reply. Yes Sir you never know what is going to hit your bait while fishing for sunnies. Bass and catfish are the most common! thumb

Great pictures thumb It was overcast here yesterday and much cooler. The fish bite was better than it has been in weeks. We should have a few more days of overcast skies so I intend on taking advantage of it.

Good report Chuck. The second to last picture looks great for fly's, lots of room to cast.

Seems like Greens are less common in Creeks down there than up herehmmm They are thick around DFW

Nice Banker. You do fish some great looking creeks and rivers. Sure wish the Rio territory was just a little bigger to the north.

Thanks FishTheBite and Will for the replies. The furthest north I have heard a Rio being caught was in Waco. I would figure the Rios would be hard to find in that area due to the colder winters. I have seen a few reports of Rios being caught in Georgetown and there is a good population of Rios in the Austin area. The population gets better as you go south of Austin! thumb

Nice fish Chuck. Does the sunfish bite slow down during the summer months? Have you done any night fishing this year?

Thanks Gitter for the reply! cheers I personally think that during the dog days of summer not only the sunfish but fishing as a whole slows down. I think the fish become lazy and find cover to lay under to beat the sun. Fish also find a little deeper water. Docks, bridges, brush piles, and tree overhangs in water 10 to 15 feet are usually pretty good places this time of year to find sunnies. Shallow rivers and creeks are a different story. Brush piles and deeper pockets of water are the places to look there. thumb

Side Note: Very early morning and night fishing are the best times to fish during the HOT summer months. 2cents
