Just heard from the news last night about the E-coli increase in Joe Pool. Is this a normal thing or is this something I need to look out for?

I don`t think it`s normal but personally I wouldn't worry too much about it. I would however make sure I was as knowledgeable about the bacteria as possible.

I think the levels were high in walnut creek that feeds the lake and that the lake itself had not tested high. The city is investing money to try to correct the problem. I'm telling my kids not to go swimming in the lake until they say the levels are safe in the creek just to be sure, even though the where they swim is pretty far from walnut. For fishing, I wouldn't worry about it on the lake, the danger is in contact with the water and you don't get too much water on yourself when you fish. The e coli is in fish intestines, not the meat. That said, I'm not going to try my luck on walnut creek any time soon.

I looked at reports earlier and it has been monitored since the filling of joe pool.By the report looks like they have no clue where the cause is coming from.I would suspect if it was me the old treatment plant that was turned into a park and possible mobile home park upstream where its most likely septic systems.Needless to say they have known about it since 1981 or so.

E. coli in our lakes: What does it really mean?

The press knows as much about E. coli as it does about politics... This article puts it in language we can all understand.

The article mentions it's in the southern portion of the lake. The creek feeding the southern arm is mountain creek. Are we sure they are referring to the creek that runs under 360. Walnut Creek runs into the northern arm.

I'm not going to worry to much about it I was tuning joe Pool yesterday and had no ill effects.
