Took the kayaks and my youngest to Lake Weatherford for some old fashioned (sort of) bluegill hunting. Managed quite a few but none of any size. Did best by the dam. Tried to find Sandy bottom without luck. I wanted to show him how we did it when I was a kid. Used drop shot on spinning outfit instead of cane pole. Kept two bigger ones to show him the old fashioned way of cleaning fish. Just need a few more to go with them to make a mess. Sorry, no pics. I never think about that until after. Fun time and a big change from two weeks ago when we were hunting sharks and kings. Water was 80 degrees with the a couple feet visability. Most activity was between 4 and 7 feet. Tried deeper but I had loaded my marsh anchor and didn't have enough rode for the wind. There has got to be a sandy bottom somewhere on that lake.
I fish on a 14 ft piece of plastic.

It just don't get any better! Great job Dad on teaching your son the simple basics of life. Enjoying the Great Outdoors. Side Note: Also making some Lifetime Memories!

Thanks Banker. I remember my grandmother taking me out in an 8 foot sculling boat. She would use a big 16/0 hook to tie to a stump. Worms we grubbed. Big bream and shellcracker. Those were good days.

The bluegill bed up in front of the little park near the wall. They bed between the rocks. The bottom is sandy between the rocks.

Sounds like a great time.
Some of my best memories are fishing with family.
Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart

Thanks to all. We're going to go back and look for the bigger bluegill in a couple of weeks
