Any decent waters/spots around the Mesquite area for LMB?
I haven't tried in a few years, was itching to wet a line.
Feel free to PM if you don't want to post any locations publicly, etc.
(Yes, I'm C&R angler only.)

I have not fished in Mesquite, but I'd surmise most, if not all ponds, rivers and streams house the same fish and relatively the same amounts.

Pick a pond or thick stream and give it a go. You'll probably have the same stories we all do around the DFW metroplex.

In other words, start with whatever is close by and report back. Pictures are a plus.

Addendum: Bass seem to be in most bodies of water around here.

Are you talking about Northwest Hwy just east of Hwy 30, or when Northwest Hwy dead ends into BeltLine or neither? Those areas are the part of Northwest Hwy/Dr that are in Mesquite, I think.

I'm guessing he's referring to Palos Verdes Lake Park.

I tried palos verdes pond for couple hours yesterday evening to sunset, only had plastic worm to use and noticed the bottom has lot of vegetation so kept having to clean off the Texas-rig. I saw lots of turtles and bluegills but no bass activity. I'll try spinner/buzz bait next time to cover more water quicker.

so I went back this evening right before dusk, managed this dink on weightless YUM dinger near the north drain, first tried spinner & buzz but nothing.
Maybe they're more active at sunrise for those baits, haven't tried sunrise yet.

well i set a goal of at least 15 fish from this palos verdes pond, took some time but finally finished... currently at 16 fish, nothing beyond the 2 lb range thou... but i know there's some decent ones in there, this water is pressured ive noticed so the big ones are a bit tricky to convince it seems. all fish came on plastics of some sort. maybe time to look at other ponds and set a new goal.
