Anyone with input on using a solar system to keep your bats charged?
I'm looking into getting a panel & charge controller to keep my batteries up.
What works & what's the best?

We use them at work, but they are not that junk Walmart sells.
I think they would work real well with a quality unit that controls output.
If you run hard and going back the next day I would put it on a 110 charger just to be safe.

I have seen them on the hard roof of pontoon boats I think is a great ideal, let us know if it works and how well.

You could run the DC into an inverter and just plug right into your onboard, I don't know how cost effective it would be.

There will not be a load on them, I want to use a solar system to recharge & keep them charged while in storage.
Two Wal-Mart 31 & two 29 group size batteries.
The two 31's are for my tm & one 29 is for my electronics & the other for cranking.

Thanks for the replies guys & I will update this thread when I get the system working....

Think I'm just gonna have to jump in & make this happen.....don't seem like there's many folks that use solar panels....I done quite a bit of research but just wanted confirmation that what I'm going to do will work....this will be too charge & keep charged the 4 bats I have in my boat...
I'll be charging my 24v for the tm with one 100w solar panel & 30a charge controller & on my other 2 bats I'm gonna make a cable to tie them in parallel just for charging & use another 100w panel & 30a charge controller for them....
With all the research I've done I'm thinking this will keep them fully charged....

Solar is awesome! I haven't used it for boat batteries like that, but I have solar on my house ans my electric bill averages $1 per month! Very low maintenance. I also use the small solar maintainers to keep my Atv batteries up and they work great.

I get my solar stuff from Kencove.com. They have panels, mounts, and controllers.
