Are you using US2? Or the bird transducer?
I was having horrible interference with the bird transducer. I was told I could add an 18g ground wire between the tm batteries and the starting battery and that would help. Or could add a ferrite ring to the birds power wire.
I chose to buy the US2 adaptor and use the front graph for Sonar and mapping only. Perfect picture now. The US2 has shielding built in to prevent the interference.

That's weird. I use my Garmin ducer with the Ultrex and I do not get any interference at all. I used to get a ton with my Motorguide.
From what I understand, you really shouldn't be getting any with the Ultrex. There is a fuse inside it that I've heard of blowing, and that will cause you to get more interference. That's what was explained to me by someone that had it happen.

Look in to that fuse. I'll bet that's the problem.
