I am about to have some work done on my garage that will prevent me from accessing the alley through my current gate location on the fence. I am going to need to relocate it about six feet to the right of where it is. Fence is 7 or 8 foot tall wood plank fence.
I was originally thinking I should pull the wooden slats from the area I need to move it to and then pull the slats the gate is made from and move them over. After looking at the situation a bit I am now thinking it might be easier to simply cut a new gate from the slats in the area i need the new gate and just close up the current gate somehow.
Hopefully that rambling makes sense. Let me know if you have done something like this and the best way to move forward.
Thanks!

relocate old gate to new hole, move wood from new hole to old gate area.
you just need to be able to dig the post holes for the gate to hang from. if it is 8' tall like the fence then you will need at least 3' buried and concreted in good. oversize the hole and use 3 bags of sacrete 5,000 psi. let sit for about 36 hrs before you hang the gate. set the posts before you demo the new gate area.
that is how I would do it.
