Fished Mustang island surf Wednesday evening & Thursday morning due to l&v winds and a forecasted calm-ish surf.
Wednesday evening was uneventful except for cut-offs probably from Smacks.
Water was gorgeous this morning, maybe a touch too clear but very nice, rollers at first sand bar and occasional set on second.
SonTwo fished live brownies under popping cork and caught trout, skippies, bonnethead & blacktip pup shark and nailed a super nice Pompano. Kept the Pompano.
Topwater was the ticket for trout up to 24"+ at a steady pace one every 10 minutes or so. Kept the first two trout.
Was looking to get to double digit trout number by 9 am when captain Jack decided he needed my hardware more than me. 3-4 minutes later Jackie broke me off halfway to Cuba.
Decided that was plenty for the morning and helped SonTwo on his multi-fish specie expedition.
Most excellent morning on the water and as always finding trout on topwaters in the surf doesn't get any better.
Don't know why pics come out upside down and just don't give a damn enough the try to rotate the pictures anymore. nothing seems to work.
