if you are going to be boat racing,by all means spend the money at a prop shop for 2 mph......if you bought that boat to fish out of and do well in tournaments...don't worry about it and concentrate on your fishing skills besides the next stump you hit may speed you up 4 mph.....

Chasing mph during the summer time is a difficult task. The temp is probably costing you more than the prop, but I would get the prop tuned up anyway.

#slowboatcrew. Hahahaha just picking, but I do agree. I have multiple props for this reason.

Or that next stump could possibly bend your prop shaft. An out of whack prop can cause excessive vibration that will destroy the seal on your shaft and let water into your lower unit. All this is not good and increases costs.

Hard to tell until a prop man puts it on the block. Yes, the tips need reworked, but deeper problems may exist.

Safe to say that a good prop man will improve your performance with repair and blueprint.

When was the last time you changed spark plugs and fuel filter?

Ooookk. I, for better or worse, like to know that my equipment is working as designed. I constantly pay attention to how it idles, water pressure, etc. Occasionally I will air it out to make sure the top end is all good as well. For whatever reason, things like this bother me until I figure it out.

Lastly, I olmost exclusively fish lake Athens. So I won't be hitting any stumps and I don't do just a whole bunch of running.

If the plugs required a precise gap measurement, did you check them and adjust as needed?

Replacing plugs isnt gonna help the boat with denser summer water and higher air temps. Boats are always slower in the summer.

I just did that as maintenance. But anytime last year I could reach the rev limiter if I wanted. Now I can't at all.

Do your spark plugs require indexing? If so, and you didn't index them when you changed them out you could have some performance issues.

I think I have the same problem, but I lost about 8 mph.
