My dad and I share a boat while he was out of town I went to feed his dogs and noticed a clicking noise look over at the boat and the motor had raised all the way up and popped the bungee strap off the transome saver push the trim down and nothing won't budge unhooked the battery to see if that would help connected it back still nothing so now the boat sits with the motor up unusable and the shop is on a 3 week back up it is a 2016 16ft grizzly tracker with a 40hp merc any ideas on how to fix it

Thanks I thought there was something like that but still doesn't solve the issue of what went wrong with the trim

I know Yamahas will sometimes get stuck if you continue to hit the switch after fully trimmed/tilted. If you loosen the relief screw and let the motor drop down a bit, then tighten the screw back, the trim will start working as normal again. I had this happen to me during a tournament just a few weeks ago.
