Have to spend the weekend in Ben Wheeler. Other than Athens and Callender Lake, is there any other small lake I can fish that is nearby? I have a kayak. Thanks

Man, there are some badarse private lakes around there. Wish you could get access.

Agree with fouzman! You could always try Purtis Creek but its tough. Good yak lake though! They had kayak tournaments last year at Athens, not sure if they still do or not.

Mill Creek Lake just behind Walmart in Canton would be another. Apparently from a few recent posts,it is fishing well again. An excellent history, then it became spotty, now? Let us know!

No fee required for kayaks.

I heard they had killed all of the grass at Athens. That's why I'm not going there.

Nope . . . just a couple of guys with some hyperbolic talk on another thread. Approximately 53 acres were treated with herbicide pellets, this out of 1799 acres.

I'll be out there Saturday in my kayak!

True, but I meant on short notice, Steve. OP, you should check out Steve's concept and lakes. Best deal going in private waters fishing for those without access.
