I'm going fishing in two weeks (weather permitting) for catfish at LLELA. Does anyone have any advice, or know of other great areas around Lake Lewisville that are located in the Lewisville/Flower Mound area that are good for catfish fishing?

I hear that the Lake Dallas cut (bank access on the north side - hike down the old Lake Dallas dam) can be productive.

I have caught tons of flatheads out of there in my younger days. My PB flathead 65lbs came out of there during the 98 floods. You will need to bring some big ol bluegill for flatties and shad for blues and channels. They won't allow cast nets so bring the right bait or it's a waste of time.. For flatheads you will want a 4-5 oz river weight to hold your bait and the biggest bluegills you can catch...go to the power generating side on the opposite bank of the parking lot. You are going to want to throw your bait right up against where the water is coming out...there is a little alcove on the right side of where the water is coming out where the flatties like to position themselves for easy meals. Throw your Gill right up in the corner of the alcove and hang on..night time in spring is best but early morning is also good. The other way I used to fish it was with a big slip bobber rig with a big ol shad under it...vary your depth on the slip bobber until you find what depth they are biting. You will catch blues, hybrids, and sandies on the slip bobber..cast it up stream and let the current take it down then repeat. Pm me if you have any other questions and let me know how it goes.
