I've wondered if Asian carp would work as cut bait.

I think it is an oily meat, the same as buffalo. Scale it and cut into chunks without washing it. The oil is what's going to generate the smell.

CARP is carp, treat the asian just like the others for cat bait It works better if you know how to tenderize it BEFORE filleting Said process is a game changer when running carp steaks

Age old and simple I use a piece of 1/2" rebar I dispatch the fish then working from the tail up I beat it solid but not so much I break passed the scales It causes trauma to the meat, blood goes to that meat After running both sides I let it rest a few minutes and then fillet the fish Instead of a huge puddle of blood on the bone side there is next to nothing All that blood that pools is now up in the meat Work with it a few times and youll get the process Hit it hard enough to knock scales loose on your second pass, just dont break the skin. Love it or hate it,its a better bait at days end

I always just called it beating the carp out of it. When you said tenderized, I thought you may of had a special unheard of process written on a piece of paper, locked in a vault beside the drawings to a five pound anchor that would hold a Nimitz Class Carrier in 12 ft seas. Thanks for sharing though.

Not sure if it's in Asian markets. But here in Illinois they are prevalent in our large rivers, Mississippi, the Illinois, and smaller tubutaries below dams. When you cut them they are extremely bloody and tough. A large one can dull your knife quick. The best part is that they grow big. So a large fish can be filleted and frozen for bait all winter.

Never thought about tenderized carp. But it makes sense. I'll try it on the next carp I catch
