Hi all,

I've been having a hard time finding a good shore fishing spot in the North Texas region. I primarily fish on Lake Lewisville, but have been looking for new areas to try around. I would consider myself an amateur to fishing still, haven't had much luck, or using right bait. Any suggestions for good shore fishing spots around North Texas would be much appreciated. I do enjoy fishing for crappie, catfish, and sandbass when I get the chance.

Every single one of the creeks are full of cats year round. Pick one and find parking near it. Bring 3 rods, FRESH cut bait and punch bait (if you aren't competent in using a throw net catch some of the sunfish in the creek). You can fish in both the holes below riffles and any deeper holes and bends after the riffles stop. You'll usually pull out 1-4 cats from each spot (most have 1 or 2 feeding fish), once you don't get a bite for 15 minutes move to the next area. Look for slack area next to current, steep and undercut banks, fallen trees and wood piles and put your baits right there.

I do this all the time off LL, PM me if you want to go sometime.

Eric

I'll definitely try this out. I'm going fishing with my brother-in-law in two weeks and will keep this in mind. I know of a couple creek areas that feed into the lake, haven't had much of a chance to explore many though. How's the fishing over in LLELA?

LLELA is a great spot. I hike downstream to get away from the crowds and trash. I hooked up with some nice carp and cats just before the railroad bridge.

Have you tried fishing the old Lewisville dam close to the toll bridge? Saw some guys pulling some nice white bass off the end. I have had some luck catching cats using cut shad or blue gill. Lots of shad on the sandy shoreline. Then I fish on the rocky side towards the middle or close to the end.

" I primarily fish on Lake Lewisville.." You're fishing one of the best lakes in the state and you do not need to look elsewhere to fish. What you should do is continue to post requests for help on that lake and I'm sure someone will offer up. I guarantee if I was closer to that lake I would make that my fishing home and fish it 7 days a week! You are lucky if you live close to that lake. If you haven't been...you need to be "multi species" on that lake. Excellent rough fish, GREAT catfishing, hybrid stripers, white bass, crappie! I would say check out the fishing barge there, but their prices are a bit too high now imop. ($10.00 for 12 hours, 1 rod)

I actually go to the fishing barge from time to time and enjoy it. The crappie fishing can be fantastic there, but I have had horrible luck catching anything else on the barge. It's usually incredibly crowded unless you go in the wee hours of the morning. I need to find some good areas on the lake to fish. I've tried fishing one of the arms that feeds into the lake, but I do not think I've brought the right tackle with me each time I've went.

I'm also in Lewisville near the barge. Haven't found a favorite spot yet but I'd be game to go fishing with some of y'all.

Try the shady shores are of the lake. I seen fisherman catch bluecats, channelcats, hybrids and stripers there. Set up just south of the boat ramp. Find some shad and you should be successful.

Might go out there for a few hours tomorrow morning. Well in a few hours

Went. Caught one shad before I snagged and lost my net so trip ended early. Got a bite but no hookup
