Are these TM compatable with Lowrance HDS12 or does it have to be humminbird for all functionality to work

Spotlock doesn't require it to be connected to a fish finder. Only the link but that is optional. The gps for spotlock is in the trolling motor

Xi5 isn't the same thing as an ultrex

I know but he was asking about spot lock, if that is what he wants and wants to tie in to his Lowrance it is nearly $1000 less to go with the Xi5....

There's only one thing you can't do without linking to a graph, follow the contour. Everything else will work just fine no matter what graphs you have. With a bird you can hit a waypoint on the screen and the trolling motor will go to it. Without a bird you can save the spot on the remote and go back to it later. That's really the only differences.

If you are looking for an excuse not to buy an Ultrex, just look at the price. It is expensive. But, don't think that a brand of graph makes a darn in the decision. You will not have one feature. The contour following feature. That's it. Everything else works on its own.

If I had to chose between my Ultrex or my graphs....I'd keep the Ultrex, it's far more useful than a graph.

Agree with Steez. Even if I had Birds I don't think I would ever use that feature. Seems it would be more useful for open water trolling. The built in transducer is compatible Lowrance.

+1
I have the ultrex with Lowrance graphs. The spot lock feature is pretty much dead on.
