Looks like you got a bunch just following the boat. What were they doing that killed the fish?

I'm guessing they are less than 10" fish that were deep hooked?

8 crappie were legal over 10" they were all floating from either being hooked too deep or mishandled. The water is only 10-15 ft so it wasn't a thermocline or benz type situation. Just sad really. Mainly that keepers were killed just to find bigger ones. I know the limits are very laced but if you kill 1 fish for every two keepers you are doing more damage than tpwd is expecting. Maybe they need to become better crappie fisherman and feel the bite better. Hard to imagine not being able to feel an 8" crappie swallowing a 3" minnow.

An unjust law is no law. It's a sin to waste fish that can be eaten. If they are legal they go in the ice. If not, well the Blue Herons and Turtles get crappie for a change.

Side note. When in doubt. Call the Game Warden.

I agree, John. They probably had kids catching fish and didnt want to stop. They may have been picking floaters out of the LW and pitching them back. Call warden.
What do you have that Solo powered with, iim ask?
Also, could you describe that double lure rig you landed one of the last fish on?
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he will sit in a boat all day and drink beer.

Do you propose a solution?...perhaps the four keepers got away just like your sand bass did when it slapped against the boat and went back in the water...dinks on the surface around a community crappie hole is just part of it...it all goes back to nature somehow...I admire your sense of ethics but don't be over zealous by calling it a sin....your fines for being in position of 40 illegal fish could reach in excess of 10,000$!!!

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

If the fish are less than legal length limit, definitely illegal. If the fish are in your boat, you are in possession.

With today's graph technologies it is easy to see what size of fish is down there. Why some people set on top of a school of 8 and 9" dumb as a box of rocks crappie, just to say that caught 100+ is beyond me.
To each his own, until there's no more.
