I recently bought a 2004 TR196. I noticed that the ice chest compartment does not have a drain hole. What have y'all done to get them to drain? I was thinking about drilling a small hole in the bottom. Any help would be appreciated.

Where is your ice chest? I have an 05 tr196. Mine is right before you step up onto front deck. They must have changed it on the 2005 models. Mine has a drain hole and rubber stopper plug. Coach

I have an 02 Tr20 and the ice chest is under the step to the front deck as well. Drain is built in and releases water to the sump.

On my Nitro the ice chest is behind the passenger seat with no drain. I drilled a hole in the inside rear corner of the bottom of the chest and installed a livewell drain fitting so it drains to the sump. I can put the plug in and use the compartment for dry storage also.
There is really no insulation around my ice chest so I found a soft ice chest with a rigid insert that just fits inside the boat ice chest and it keeps cool much better!

My 01 Tr 186 has a drain and rubber plug. Used it once when first bought the boat new an hour and a half drive to the lake and all of the ice melted it became another tackle storage box and we carry a soft ice bag stashed under the passenger console that ice lasts all day.

Ice Chest works great in TR21. Holds a 20lb bag of ice.
