The magnetic dial needs to be tightened or you're you are using to light of a lure for your rod which causes them for me

I swim jigs a lot and have a lot reels and here's my experience:

I have 2 Lews Speed Spool SLP's, 1 Lews Tournament Pro G, 4 Revo SX's and 1 new Chronarch MGL. All of them work fine, some better than others. As aforementioned, setting the adjustments is key.

For the money, the Revo SX @ $120 is a great reel. They were $99 at Cabelas not long ago. I use a Revo SX in the 6.4 ratio with 12lb fluro on a swim jig rod I throw 3/8 jigs with. Works great.

For $199 the Lews Tournament Pro G is awesome and in my opinion one of the better Lews for the money. The new Chronarch MGL however, beats them all for my money but it's $279.00.

If I had $200 to spend, I would probably get the Revo SX along with some quality fluro, some jigs, and trailers.

You make an excellent point that a lure/rod combination could be causing complications. Another one I had not thought about until now is line - they aren't all equal, and certainly some are harder to cast than others. Match a difficult line with a light lure on a stiff rod and you have a tougher challenge regardless of what reel is used.

you can spend 200.00 dollars on a reel every company has multiple reels in your range. Curado is a solid reel, 13 fishing inception a solid reel, Revos, also solid but if your budget is 200.00 consider academy brand H2O for 60.00. life time warrantee. cast as good as curado, revo, and inception, I've multiples of each reel in my boat, and each get the job done. the vital issue is setting the reel maximizing casting ability, just a thought

This is the reel you are looking for...It comes in a 6-1,7-1 and 8-1 gear ratio. You can adjust this reel so that you can make a two handed long cast and never even thumb the reel. I have never seen any other reel cast that far without having to thumb the reel to keep it from backlashing. I now have 5 of them. Everyone I show how far i can cast with it without even touching the spool is impressed. Several have ordered one after seeing my demo.

Agreed. I sold my Shimanos for Lew's

You will be replacing your Lews well before your Shimano would wear out,

I'm still using series B curado 100's and MG 50's, they cast great and their over 15 years old.

I don't agree because the Lews reels are very well built and hold up well. The B series curado is one of the most durable reels that Shimano ever built. The E series are very good also. Then came the G series and the I series and the quality went down. I have have been replacing my I series Curados with Lews Super Duty reels. The super duty reels are way better than the Curado I.

I use 100% Lews reels now. Everything they make is superb quality and works great. I have owned high end Abu Revos, quantum smoke and tour Mgs, shimano citica and curados, and a 13 Concept A. Out of all of those I feel even the lower priced lew's out preforms. I am assuming you have the Lew's Tournament Lite, I have 3 that I use for various techniques and I am very pleased with. It may be many things, casting technique, adjustment settings, line size and type, or something could be wrong with the reel. Lew's has the best customer service, it would be worth it for you to call and see if they could help.

Now, if your dead set on getting a new reel, You may try the super duty or the BB1 Pro models, for 200$ and under those are my favorite.

I am not a flag waver for any particular brand. I probably have 20 bait casters that are in service right now, both Shimano's and Lews reels, and all less than 5 years old. You really cant go wrong with either. My Shimano's are a bit older (3-4 years) and are still in great shape and perform quite well. The Lews reels are a bit newer (1-2 years) and they really are top notch as well. I will say this, the Lews reels are much more sensitive to settings than the Shimano's, but when they are dialed in correctly, they are the sweetest casting reels I have ever thrown. If they are still performing like my Shimano's in 2-3 years, then I can see what the Lews hype is all about.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

I ordered a 13 fishing Concept A yesterday in a 7:3:1 ratio to throw 1/4 oz jigs. Having said that I think yall might be on to something when it come to my fishing rod. I am throwing a 7 ft MH rod with a moderate to fast tip. I think the rod might be over powering the reel

Can you put 50 pound braid on a medium action rod for throwing light swim jigs?

IMO, the Revo SX is one of the best bargains out there.

Okuma Helios Air. eBay $179.00 Weighs 5.7 oz., 7.3:1 Ratio. Very strong gear system and is smooth as silk. This reel was discontinued. Okuma has struggled in the Bass Fishing World in North America. I promise you won't be disappointed.
