I have recently wanted to try the old legendary Rat-L-Trap. Those of you that have fished it,what is the best knot for this lure?

I use the modified clinch knot, but more people fish the Palomar knot than others. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Really a simple Palomar or fisherman's knot is all you need. Nothing more. Don't overthink it.

I would use a San Diego Jam knot for the trap. I use a Palomar for hooks and smaller sized baits.

Nothing beats the San Diego Jam. Just tie two hooks together on a piece of line. The SD Jam on one end and any other knot on the other. Pull until the line breaks. The Jam will NEVER be the one that breaks first.

I have recently wanted to try the old legendary Rat-L-Trap. Those of you that have fished it,what is the best knot for this lure? Say WHAT? I had absolutely no idea that different LURES favored one knot or another as "best". How the hell did you come up with that one? Can the lure tell what knot is used or do the fish examine it before striking the lure? If you asked about what knot works best for a particular line technology, I would agree that some knots are better/worse than others (mostly due to the fact that some line materials allow knots more opportunity to slip).

I tie a palomar on mono and braid. I use San Diego on flouro to protect knot. You can tie a palomar knot with flouro just be careful so you don't burn it when cinching it down.

Use the Emperor's knot for everything. It takes a long time to tie but it's really really good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPuA5rfbEEg

One of the most over-thought things in fishing That and women.
I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed. Conscience never acquits, it either accuses or excuses.

Apparently you are not aware of how some knots can actually reduce or limit the ACTION of some lures. That is how the HELL I came up with That one! You seem to be an intelligent individual but I think you are over thinking this one,or maybe my question was a just little to simple for you.BTW:In regards to your attempt @ Humor, don`t quit your dayjob.
