Haven't been to joe pool to seriously fish it from a boat in a while.. used to back in the 2010-2012 I'd fish it with my uncle and throw around the hydrilla. Was wondering if there is still hydrilla in the lake? If not any kind of key things I should fish when I see them? Really wanna get on a topwater bite tomorrow morning and I hope the big girls aren't in 20 feet of water.

Thanking the lord for another day on the water

The only vegetation on that lake shows up around noon on jet skis.

I'm pretty new to the area.. moved to Texas in 2012.. been focusing my fishing on Joe Pool and I'm curious why there is no vegetation there.. It seems to be a really good candidate for grass since its really consistent depth wise.. thanks for any input

My understanding is the grass died off a couple of years ago when we had massive amounts of rain during the summer.

If you can't find em wind em.

Because it is a recreational lake and they didn't want grass interfering with their skiing so it had a ton of carp put in it and it ruined it

Grass Carp have never been stocked at Joe Pool: http://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/action/stock_bywater.php?WB_code=0582
There are plenty of Common Carp in there but they were there before the hydrilla. The drastic water level fluctuations have always led to ups and downs in coverage. The propagules are still there and will come back with some stable water levels.

They are in Pool according to TPW and I personally think Pool has been one of the most stable lakes in the DFW area. It was gone well before the floods the last two years

Talked to a guy that said he put some type of flys in the hydrilla to kill it by the city. They did the job the next year it was gone.
