After this finalized, and it will, look for Cabelas to go big on selling Ranger and Triton Boats which Johnny owns too.

I didn't know Johnny owned Ranger too. Does that mean they are just rebranded Nitro's now?

Not much of upside for the Bass Fisherman or Consumer.

Saving grace is BPS suxs now of days anyways, They no longer offer good deals to consumers and their Black Friday Sales at Christmas is horrible compared to what it was when the first opened up in the D/FW area.

Tackle Warehouse blows them out of the water on price and selection and customer service.

Johnny isn't that involved in the business anymore. Corporate guys who pray to the almighty dollar are pretty much running the show. Which is why...it sucks. Get what you can from the small guys while you can, it won't be long before those corp. boys find out about them and buy them out.

Agreed but not their main business. Seldom have more than one in stock and their service dept. is practically non-existant. My point was after the deal is finalized they will expand the boat part of their business and be a full service dealer. But what do I know, I'm just a dumb Texan.

Fishing Holdings, LLC which manufacture's Ranger, Triton and Stratos boats was bought out by Bass Pro shops aka Johnny Morris. Say what you want about the man but he makes money and lots of it. Whether or not you approve of it or like it is your business but if you enjoy fishing or boating at some point you will probably buy something from him.

The Ft. Worth store is and has been full of them. Showroom and outside. Lots of Ranger bass and bay boats and plenty of aluminum models. Been that way for several years. Pretty good sized service department as well.

They have 5 guess that would constitute "full of them" but I will admit defeat.

Very wrong. Johnny Morris is still at the office almost every day. He makes virtually all of the big Finacial decisions.
He is not very involved in the product buying or marketing. But is the king on the acquisitions and new store location decisions.

That said the sale will go through now that they have the credit card and banking part worked out.

The big corp. boys don't buy them out, they just make knock offs and undercut the price until the small guy folds up his tent.

When I had a tackle store, I couldn't compete with BPS on price. But now their price is retail plus.
