Joe Pool is slightly up after nearly a week of rain. A cold front left the sky clear and the wind out of the north - hardly ideal fishing weather. The sunfish started biting at sunup and for two hours the bite was fair. The fish were on beds in about 4 feet of water. At about 8 AM the wind turned to east and the bite went to poor, but I picked up a few more fish. By 10 AM the sun was too hot for this old man, and I packed up and left.

I kept 14 small fryers. They were all about 6-7 inch fish. There were no big ones, and I threw back a lot of even smaller fish.

I use a small pair of scissors to cut up 1-2 inch segments of Canadian nightcrawlers. They are fished beneath a slip bobber and a #3 split shot 9 inches above a #8 Aberdeen hook on the end of the line.

Nice fish and report. Good job.

Side Note: I saw in the bass section about a fish kill at Joe Pool. Did you see any dead fish while you were there? Also any information?

I did not see any dead fish. It is my understanding that the kill was in one area where there was a lot of nasty run off. I fish at Lynn Creek Marina. The water was stained, but not badly, and there were no dead fish.

I saw a small write up I believe it was on the TPW facebook page. It stated it was minor. Cause was natural.

Thanks Smithaven. Glad it was not a serious lake fish kill.
