i am going camping with some buddies at cleburne state park this weekend and we are taking the kayaks. is the fishing in the lake at the state park any good? if so what are the biting off style of bait and color? is it a nice lake to just kayak?

It is a great place to camp: safe, pretty clean and kept well, hiking trails, the lake sits a bit low and has trees around its perimeter . . . so you can hide a bit better from wind if that is an issue this weekend.
If you trailer, if I recall, there is one ramp and it is pretty good for launching kayaks.
Small entry fee.
Fishing is just average and most of the people I have known who go out there sort of target multi-species: panfish and bass, etc., happy to catch whatever bites.
I think you'll like it just fine!

There are a few brush piles, if you have electronics you can look for those. The dam holds some fish, too.

The water there is typically very clear as well, though it may be off color some due to the recent rains.
