I did good on a lake this past weekend with a double rig, tied a shad colored plastic on top with a loop knot and a foot below a live minnow. I put a shad colored plastic tried a variety of plastics in a baby shad shape, caught 2 keepers off the plastic and 17 off the minnow. That lake is clear so I usually do better with live minnows, its been like this the last 3 times out. I wanted to know does anyone have a recommendation for a realistic looking minnow plastic out there. I even tried the Creme Lil Fish baits.
I'm a believer in plastics and jigs but they are preferring live bait I'd much rather use plastics, got a good realistic minnow go to plastic?
God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28

Black Emerald Shiner by Thermocline Lures. It has worked like a champ for me. I will dip the tail in Chartreuse Spike it. Then start slinging slabs.
I usually put it on a 1/8 ounce Pink Jig Head.
Crazy Angler Slab Bandits has a Black and Gray one, but I can't remember the name of it. It has also performed well for me.
Good Luck.

Agree with thermocline fry series for sure. We had minnows loaded in our slips early this year in February. Picked the closest bait I had and tore em up. Even under lights when there were thousands of minnows swarming everywhere, the crappie would still find that natural shad super fry.

I have been killing tons and much bigger ones on Berkley Power Bait Pro Shad 2.5 inch . Best color is Bleak. But have caught them on 4 different colors. The tail action on the unique tail pattern is amazing.
$4.99 for 10 baits. Fishing on a 1/32 to 1/16 ounce jig head.
Try them you won't be sorry.
Only problem is keeping the blacks off them.
