I am thinking about obtaining an OUPV Near Coastal 6 pack captains license. I live in the DFW area. What are good online, preferred, or in Texas course options? I have found some on the internet, but I am looking for recommendations and experiences. Thanks.

From the DFW Maritime web site:
DFW Maritime has stopped offering courses.
Please check the National Maritime Center for other course providers.

Thanks guys. Anyone had any experience with the online course with Mariners Learning Systems? They have a testing center in the area. Or any experience with other online courses?

My apologies, I have had my license for a few years. A friend did the on line class. He said it was not hard but he's younger and understand quicker than me. He tested at Bass Pro in Grapevine. There was / is a 6 day long class around the coast. Another friend took his class and passed. Something like 16 out of 24 passed. I think it is or was Cap Jack. It has a high failure rate as you cover each part of the test each day and test on the 6th. You will have 5 test for your OUPV. Near coastal will have another 30 questions over Rules of the road. You have one year to get all your sea time. Not sure what your intention are but I would go and get your master at same time. It will save you money and time in long run.
