I love to throw a yellow magic and or a rico - usually the smaller 1/4 oz version.

Currently throw this on a 6'9" Kister Argon Medium rod.

I would like to use something with a that is a little longer and has a little more back bone to it...what rod are you throwing your pop-r with?

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I use a Shimano Cumara 7'2" MH for my yellow magic rod. Extremely light rod good backbone but enough tip action to keep from pulling the bait away from the fish on the hookset.

I must have short arms as I like a rod no longer than 6' 9" for popping lures and jerk baits.

I used to throw mine on a 7' rod. Recently traded for a 6'6" Shimano Crucial and paired it with a Revo Premier. I've been bombing the small yellow magic pretty far with that combo. I also really like the shorter rod for working the bait, and I'm 6'2".

Pretty much same rod 7ft medium.when you go to a stiffer rod it's hard to cast to a specific spot.

7' Shimano Crucial medium with fast tip and Shimano Scorpion with 12 lb.

Have caught literally 100's on this setup up to 9 lb. Been doing it for a long time. LOL

I use a old school pistol grip. Yeah I know that sounds weird. But, it works really well and you don't have the butt of the rod in your stomach when walking a spook.

6'6" Original AllStar Zell Rowland Topwater Special. You don't need a longer rod, Ken.

I use a 6' Falcon pistol grip for small top waters and crankbaits, down to 1/5 oz.
10 lb. test copolymer mono.

For ultra-light, I go to a 7' Falcon spinning rod and Smoke reel with 6 lb. test or a Fenwick 5' 2" with 6 lb.

thanks for all the feedback guys...sounds like I am pretty close in my set up -its just a bit whippy - hooks up well.

Its a good thing when I am talked out of spending money...I may be looking at the reel I am using though to get a little more distance in casting.
