Fished upper Dunlap today 8:00 - 1:30. Water temp 74-77 degrees & semi clear. Only boat on the lake til 11:30. Used night crawlers only...ended up with 4 catfish around 2 lb ea... 3 bass (small) , and around 40 bluegill. The bluegill are getting bigger with each trip.

Beautiful fish, Vogey! How did you manage being the only boat on the lake? I thought for sure we'd be trying to fish in wall to wall vacationers by now.

Laker...I grew up on McQueeney & would love to fish there, but the boat ramp issue keeps me away. 45 years ago I used to machete my way through the brush to get to the bank where we lived, with a bucked full of crickets & grasshoppers. You would not believe the size of the Rios we caught. Would love to see some pics from McQueeney.

Texan...I was surprised by the boat traffic as well...maybe everyone thought it would be muddy after the rain.

DOCTOR...Photography is another hobby of mine, and I think the natural beauty of the fish is awesome.

Side note...One of my ultra lite reels (Lews) crapped out today. I also have 2 pflueger reels seem to be better quality, and have been very reliable. What are your recommendations as far as reliability and quality goes ?

Lake Side Subdivision has a boat ramp to enter Mcqueeney. Friends of mine have used it many of times without any problems. The boat ramp is not in good shape. I would not launch a boat over 21'. There is a sign at the top of the ramp that says keep the launch area clean and not to clean fish there. The subdivision is off of FM 725. thumb

I have a friend who lives on Treasure Island. I can also launch my kayak from his dock and fish off his dock. Right now there is a lot of summer time boat traffic. Even at night there is a lot of boat traffic. Mcqueeney is a great fall/winter and spring lake. I could only imagine how it was years ago. As for ultra light reels I would stick with Pflueger. woot

The subdivision that has the ramp is Lake Creek. Ramp is in bad shape. I would only launch small boats and kayaks there. Do to no public boat ramps Mcqueeney has little fishing pressure. I have never seen many fishing boats on that lake. There are some huge fish on that lake.

Vogey I bet you can remember Hot Shots and Fraziers Boat Rentals and Ice House which both were on Mcqueeney back in the day.

I have only been fishing Mcqueeney for about five years. Plenty of very expensive homes and no public ramps. The only business on the lake is the private Mcqueeney Ski Club. nuts
