I've caught a lot of catfish in my years, but now for the first time I have a live-well to put em in. Question is: What's the best way to get em out? I hope this question isn't too silly...

Some guys clip the spines before throwing em in the livewell. Some guys use a dip net. Some throw em on ice and others throw em in a box with no ice. Other guys will tell you to quit being a sissy! I only keep a few here and there so I drain my well at lake and remove the fish back at the casa.

Now I realize clipping them is a very good way to go but I never thought of doing it before. I have been stung more than my share of times by catfish. My usual method is putting them on ice as soon as I catch them. The iced fish are easy to clean and also it seems that the ice makes the fish have less blood in the fillet.

Don't worry about a livewell unless your in a tourney and gonna let them go. Those suckers last most of a day out of water. If real hot throw a bottle of ice on them

Yep in a tourney is the only time I keep them alive, so for most of the year if I keep anything it goes on ice in the cooler. My live well is used mostly for bait.

We clip the spines and chunk them in a cooler with ice. It's so easy.
