Come home and found 1 less kayak on the trailer?

With the popularity of yak angling exploding, there is no shortage of thieves on the prowl who will quick flip your vessel. It seems like locks, cables & chains don't keep them from getting to them smirk

Does any one have one of these or something similar on their property yet? Has anyone been considering or wish they had 1 on their yak? popcorn

frown

here is another link that outlines the subscription options for SPOT products - because those add up fast. https://www.findmespot.com/en/?cid=100

I seem to remember a few new/interesting products were coming online/out earlier this year that used cellphone tech w/ a GPS receiver and only cost a $30/year subscription. If i can find time to dig up a link those are a bit more reasonable and probably just as effective in a metro area.

Found it - though it isn't shipping yet - http://pinggps.com/

Sorry to hear that brother, it's almost becoming an epidemic like tailgate theft. Thieves suck. Maybe thieves should watch videos of what's done to them in countries like Brazil. Sadly, I don't think that'll stop the meth heads here.

The Black Hammer was talking about State Farm offering kayak insurance. And I saw that another guy got insurance through geico for like $18 a month. Seems like a wise investment for the higher end kayaks. Very sorry that you yak was stolen from you. Can't stand hearing about all the kayaks being stolen lately. Its hard to have anything nice anymore.

Man, that really sucks. But yes, I use State Farm and pay $11 a month for insurance. That covers my kayak and all my fishing gear including rods, reels, and fish finder.

I can see it being real easy to bait these theives. If anyone wants to get together and have a "kayak bait the theives night" I'm all in.

Thanks bros but it was Actually a question not a statement laugh See what u did Christian? wink

My yaks have not been stolen. Not yet anyways! But I know it is gettin bad. Lots of yaks out there now and there will b plenty more 4sure. Since the prices r going up, I might just look into a gps tracker. Those of ya that have had their yak stolen already might be thinking about 1 too. Christian, did u ever recover your second stolen yak?
