Two years ago there were a lot of vehicle break-in's (at ramps), folks stealing Yeti Coolers, rods n reels,Yaks, trls, and even a few boats. Most were Owner Negligence the way I see it.Items left out in the open, unlocked, day or night, in your yard,at the store, and ramps. Has things cooled down? I know this is mainly a Freshwater Forum, so I don't hear much about the Saltwater thefts that may still be going on.We have quite an investment in the gear we use....So Lock it up. Most of us pulling a boat will stop at a store on the way to the water. Most of us have gear in the bed of the truck and in our boat.It doesn't take long to Snatch something and drive off. If you have a person with you, one of you stay with your vehicle and boat. Be safe,be careful, check your trl. for maintenance purposes....

I work at the marinas on Travis and I see Yeti coolers just sitting on the swim decks of the larger cruisers, unsecured. Some marinas have security systems but most do not. You have to wonder what people are thinking.

I wouldn't say they've cooled down.. I would think more people are educated to it happening and are leaving cars empty with nothing to take. I've still heard plenty of the above being stolen though. As far as Travis marina's that's a whole different story. Like you said, secure entrance to those boats even though they are unprotected from the water side. Most of the theft on the coast is areas that a thief could drive up see what's available and hit an run. I still take everything with me out of that vehicle if I can. I even took my pillow one time at a really bad spot. They won't break in or steal anything if there is nothing there to get. I'm not sure that any areas are totally off the list. The more private a ramp is the better, seems the public ramps with lower traffic are the worst. Be educated and prepared by not leaving anything available to them and the risk goes down immensely.
