Possibly looking into upgrading my 01 xpress open vessel 2072 90hp. I have been looking hard at the crestliner 2200 bay. I have done searches and can't find many bad reviews about them. A lot of 80 model fish hawks are still around.

I haven't laid hands on one yet. I would like some first hand info on the brand first. I read an article vs Lund about how the Lund was riveted and the crestliner is tongue and grove constructed and then welded. Ideally you would want a 1 Piece hull. And maybe a little thicker than a 1/8 hull but the 3/16 hull boat I was looking into was a
Was right at 65k which is out of my range.

It fits my style of fishing perfect. I like the fact of not worrying about glass. The 15 degree hull rise will help cut waves when the jetties or lake get rough. It will be a multi species family boat going from bass, crappie, flounder, redfish. All composite construction. Coating that can be washed instead of vacuumed. It has already the rod boxes and livewells that I do not have in my current boat. Deep sides like my xpress for my 2 year old. Up grade from 2stroke to 4stroke. Plus with a loaded 22 foot boat for under 40k is a major plus.

Any personal insight on this brand would be greatly appreciated

I only know one and he's pretty unhappy. His is sitting at the dealer's waiting for it's second trip back to the factory for structural/weld repair.
I think i would keep looking.

Any suggestions. Only other boats I've seen that fit my descriptions(mainly price) would be a nautic Star and on the top end blazer bay. Which is not out of the question even though it's glass

Crestliner makes a very good boat. I had an Xpress that went back to the factory 3 times to be re welded and my friend Chris Waston had a 20' SeaArk that he had to rebuild in less that a year(SeaArk sent him all new ribs to weld in the bottom. Lots of welded aluminum boats have to be welded up. I'd say probably 90% if they are heavily used very much.

The only Welding I have done on my xpress was the tip of the nose Where a blind guy in a pick up hit my gunnel while I was at a red light. The front lug got ripped out before I got it and was repaired. And where my Trolling Motor was mounted it kept bouncing and started cracking the bow on top. I drilled all the cracks and tig welded them myself and resolved the issues of they cracked in the first place.

Being a Welder metal is kinda my thing so I can repair and understand what would cause it to crack.

I personally think it's all in the operator and enviroment 90% of the time.

Been looking hard at nautic star and blazer bays as well. Can't seen to find any negatives on those 2 brands

Those are two good ones, it would be hard to go wrong with either.
