I have the Navionics+ chip and really like it (I have a Helix 7 and before that an 898c SI). The contour lines are very accurate in regards to there being drops/flats where it looks like they're supposed to be. It's not so accurate in the depth numbers that are on the contour lines themselves. Usually, all of the lines for a given lake are pretty close to all being wrong by about the same amount, so it's not so difficult compensating for it.

The cool thing is that you can record your own sonar charts when you fish and update the Navionics database with it. Also, all lakes have some amount of water depth fluctuation due to rain, water removal, evaporation, etc.

I prefer LakeMaster Charts as it allows for me to make adjustments to the maps such as shallow water highlights and low water level features. I do keep both Nav. and LakeMaster on hand as contour does change from card to card lake to lake.

My advice is to check out the mapping from each company for the areas you fish, as each card offers its own advantages. You can view the latest from Navionics on the webapp completely free before spending a dime so that you can see what card is right for you: http://webapp.navionics.com/#boating@6&key=omvvDnjx%7DP

Right now, with the Sonar Charts program and additional recording boats, Navionics is averaging around 20000 updates per week, now granted they might not always be in areas around you but improvements are happening daily. That is another reason it is important to take advatage of the 1 year of free updates after making your purchase.

Lakemaster has great roadbeds and creeks, I like the shading for depth warning,..and the lake level adjustments..
