Sorry for the long post. My boat is a Weldcraft flatbottom with a tunnel and float pods. My old Lowrance DI transducer was on the float pod on the right side and worked ok. I moved it up to the bow and put the transducer on the trolling motor. I'm afraid that if I put the Helux 7 transducer on the float pod the lower unit will probably interfere with it. Basically the skeg is the only part that sticks below the bottom of the hull with the jack plate raised all the way up. I'll be perfectly honest and admit I know nothing about SI. With that I'm not sure how the beam works and how much of the water column 5-6" of the skeg will block. The other option is to mount it between the tunnel and the float pod on a piece of starboard. Boat is primarily used for crappie fishing which is why I would like SI. Any help/opinions would be greatly appreciated

SI has to "see" left and right. Humminbird's SI covers from the water's surface to past vertical under the transducer on both sides.
You can try it in that location, since you have a jackplate that may give you the clearance you need. If you have too much blockage, you can use two SI transducers, one on each pod and connect them to the display with the AS SILR Y cable. That would use the left side SI on the left transducer and right side SI/2D/Temp on the right side SI transducer.
Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N and G4N, 1198c SI, SOLIX 10 SI G3, Helix 8 MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 SI and G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL, RC-1

Right now it is mounted where the old one was on the right pod on a piece of starboard. This weekend I'm going to see what it does with some known objects and see if it can detect them on the left side. If not then I will probably just get another transducer and AS SILR Y cable. >E

Post a pic looking from the side. Hard to tell with that pic. But essentially, you need clear water on both sides and below the si transducer.
