Just a quick update to some previous shared posts on the range of sizes I have caught on Sufix Nanobraid in its lightest 2 lbs. test.

Yesterday, I was having no luck with my wacky rigged worm, not even a nibble, so, I had pulled into the lily pads and tried it there, too, still no luck. But, I always carry my little 5 ft. ultra-light rod and I could hear the bluegills "smacking" all around me, eating bugs off the top of the water. So, I put down my bass set-up, picked it up, made a short flip of about 10 feet across the little opening I was on corner of the lily pads, and, boom, I get a nice bluegill . . . NO, it is pulling too hard! I made some progress picking up line, and the fish made some progress towing my kayak, too. Finally, it lodged itself in some coontail pretty badly, so I reeled in the remaining line and slowly pulled it up out of about 5 feet water and I had caught a 3.5 maybe even a 4 lbs. bass. No scales, but one that was just shy of having a mouth I could shove my fist into.

So, this extends the upper size range of what I have caught. It is further evidence that this is pretty tough stuff, Dyneema, that is. This fish had my little St Croix rod bent over like a horseshoe!

It is quite common for me to be out targeting panfish and for at least one bass to come over and decide to snack on my tiny presentations.

Camera got soaked (another kayaking story!) two weeks ago, so no pics. I'll have to get another soon to share photos.

Awesome post Brad. I use 4 and 6 pound line on my ultralight reels. I mostly been using my flyrod latley on the sunfish and having a blast.

I am more amazed every time I go out how strong this 2 lbs. Sufix Nanobraid is.

I am considering dropping down and using this in 6 lbs. test for at least one of my bass set ups. I think it'd still be so incredibly thin in diameter that I could pass altogether on using a fluorocarbon leader.

Usually, I use 10 lbs. braid with an 8 lbs. fluoro leader for most of my finesse bass presentations.

They make this stuff up to 14 lbs. test, by the way.

I see where you are coming from about the lighter the line the better. I have used two pond test line and did not really like it. Four and six pound test seems to work best for me on my sunfish gear. The six pound test is easier for me to work with. Since I started to fly fish I have not used my spinning gear that much. Still love fishing with my ultra lights but fly fishing is very addictive also.
