We all stumble and make mistakes. When you stumble, do you want your brother to help knock you down or to help set you back on your feet?

No joke every once in a while my braid will start backlash symptoms and shoot about a foot or so out of the top of the spool midcast and then correct itself without a issue. But back on subject it depends what kind of bait you throw. I can throw a t rigged lizard with no problem but as soon as i switch itto a brush hog backlash city!

My experience is that a worm will cast easier/farther than a brush hog or lizard or any other bulky bait because of the wind resistance.

I've had quite a few backlashes with braid that I couldn't get out with the pick. In frustration, I'd grab hold of the line and rip it loose. Holding my rod in my right hand, reel disengaged, I wrap the line around my left hand and pull straight away from the spool. Works about 65% of the time. If not, get the scissors! I don't recommend using anything mechanical to increase your leverage as this could bend the spool.

Dude, this worked!!! I put on a pair of mechanics gloves and on the second hard pull it came free and is good to go. Thanks for the help.

Don't forget to use line conditioner on your braid. I use 65# braid with the 130 Whopper Plopper and occasionally get a backlash, especially when I am trying to throw it 100 yards, and the conditioner makes pulling out the loops much easier.

One tip that might not be mentioned here is, to loosen your drag just a little when pulling out backlashes. Don't engage your reel either. It really makes it easier to get it out.

Be careful not to cut yourselves yanking on it. Braid will slice skin real easy.

Thanks, I only pull on it steadily and real hard, never yank it. roflmao
