I can not say enough good stuff about my recent trip with Zach Hughes on Fork. I brought a buddy of mine who does a great job for me at work...time for a treat and we both got one!!! We took off early on Friday as Zach had found school of fish munching on shad early....I knew we would catch them....I had no idea it would be this good. First spot...20 fish from 1.5 to 5 lbs all in the first hour - WHAT A BLAST - Caught them with a yellow magic and a scrounger style bait. No doubt we had a 9 pound under sack as these fish were gorging on shad and fat fish. Then we worked around several spots a little deeper that we all know and marked and caught fish at every stop...fishing was on Friday no doubt. Each stop produced 5 or 6 fish as we worked around the main lake. At lunch we had 40 fish with the biggest getting away right at the boat (my fish on a drop shot - grrr). First stop in the afternoon in 20 ft a few more nice slot fish. Next Zach throws his drop shot up into 10 ft and catches an 8 pound fish...Some folks mind if the guide is fishing in the boat...I on the other hand want Zach to fish - he is such an awesome teacher. Any time a 7-8 pound fish is caught in the boat I am in I get giddy...so much fun. Next stop - we pull approach and can see that a guide and customers are fishing it..wacking nice fish on c-rig and crankbaits. Zach did not know the other guide but he was very careful to give him room and after 5 minutes or so we let the guys have the hole - it was the right thing to do. I love that about Zeeter - does the right thing. We went on to a few other holes caught a few more and then went back to the spot referenced above to find a guide with 3 guys fishing with Brim...I thought to myself - self this is not good - how you going to compete with that!!?? We moved far enough away from the guide boat and started throwing both drop shots and wild eye swim baits - 10 minutes in Zach hooked a freaking monster. Quietly caught it...smirked at me and we finished our day. If you want to learn, if you want to be in a laid back boat and have a blast give Zach Hughes a ring...the guy is flat on fish right now! Here are a couple of the fish we caught. End of the day we caught 55-60 fish and had an absolute blast together! GOOOD TIMES!
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.
