i am going on a mango binge for a couple of issues
how do you eat them
i cut 1 in half & i don't think that is the proper method
can you eat them like an apple
skin & all

Never heard of eating the skins
Go to an Asian Market and get them dried like jerky, the greens ones are much better since they have a slight bite to them.
To cut them you slice them twice on each side of the seed. I hold the cut pieces and eat with a spoon.

Oh, and the mango smoothie called a mangonada is absolutely marvelous happiness and highly addictive. There's MANY paleterias in Arlington to get good ones.

Oh, and the mango smoothie called a mangonada is absolutely marvelous happiness and highly addictive. There's MANY paleterias in Arlington to get good ones.  Did I order the right thing? She said "Muy ($4.75) or Frozen ($4)".....in my head I thought frozen would be a slushy style, but I got this. I managed to eat off the bottom of it....but then I got home and threw in in my blender. Oh goodness...that was tasty! I still don't know what "Muy" meant....she kept shrugging her shoulders at me when I asked what it was. LOL!

Cutting Mango (This link works!) Mango is one of my favorite fruits to eat. I put them in fruit salad, smoothies, and as Kattelyn said with chili lime.

I can only find Mangos from Mexico and they are not that good.
Any one find any place who sell non Mexico mangos?

Costco has some dried mango with zero sugar added. Ingredients-- organic mango. They are pretty addictive:  I don't care for fresh mango or mango flavored anything for the most part, but these are delicious.

But then I've been in love with paleterias my entire life. Some of the best food in the world and the only place I know where you can get a real fruit bowl.

Mangoes are gross. They are unique in that they belong to the plant family that also contains poison oak, poison ivy, and poison sumac. Poison oak, poison ivy, and poison sumac all contain urushiol. Run some mango on your face and see if you're allergic. lol. My kid did. She no longer eats mangoes.

If the store has them, I'm eating them. I bought too many a couple of weeks ago and didn't get around to eating them all. Decided I'd cut one up and toss it out to the raccoons as it was past ripe. Its weird how they act about foods they've never tried. Sometimes only one of the 10 that visits every night will like something I would have thought they would enjoy. Put out watermellon the other day and only 2 of the 10 ate it, the mama and one of her babies. None of the others would even touch it. Same thing happened with grapes. So I throw out a big chunk of mango, one of the little raccoons takes a bite, looks around, grabs the whole thing and takes off in a dead run up the tree with two of his sibling and mamma hot on his tail for some. It was funny. They all like mango.

Just a warning....that old food pyramid we learned in school health class was all wrong....they have now flip flopped the stuff. Fruit is now one step below sugary items like cookies. They found that the sugar in fruit is almost as bad as sugars.
Now the bottom of the pyramid is meat and veggies.....fruit is a small portion of your diet. It can be very bad for your health if you eat too much....my dad is on Weight Watchers Diet....fruit is zero points....so he ate apples and bananas all day long to stay full and save his points for meals.....he was on the verge of diabetic. He won't eat any sugary items...hasn't in several years. Skips the birthday cake at parties.....so we now exactly what caused his sugar spike. Fruit.

but you know the studies change everyday Nopales lower your blood sugar and are proven to help diabetics in trial after trial. It's the top one of the five foods we used to have in our diets that we really don't eat any more.

Yes. Here's how I make them. Go to Fiesta and get a bag of the already prepared and sliced ones to save yourself some time. Boil them in plain water for about 10 minutes-ish. Add a little baking soda to cut the slime and drain and set them to the side. Dice up about 3 slices of bacon and about 1/4 to 1/2 an onion and fry it up. When the bacon is done enough and the onions are clear, toss in the nopales and just heat them through. I'll fry them on high enough heat just long enough that they start getting color. I like to add some tajin and some lime juice. They taste kind of like canned green beans when they're boiled. You can eat them raw. To me, they taste kind of like bell pepper-ish. I'll toss them with pico and lots of lime and go to town on them as a fresh salad.
