Normally would be out kayak fishing this time of year. But, not able to go today. Decided to hit the local pond for some switch rod casting practice. Fun stuff... windy but no issues with it. Even caught a couple of Bass! Video.

Agree, it is fun...but more importantly it is a terrific technique in certain situations... like in fishing a wide river for these silver and king salmon

Nice fish Meadowlark! Have not gotten any Bruisers like those with the Switch Rod. Have had fun with Striped Bass at Denison, whatever bites at LLELA, and the Trout at TRWD Flyfest back in March!

Have you tried spey casts with that setup? I find it more enjoyable than overhand casts on my 2wt. It's a little challenging in stillwater, but it can be done. And when you pull off a perfect snap T, that line flies.

Yes but need more practice on the snap t... do like the snake roll, have used it at times when there is no room behind even with a switch cast or roll cast.

The snap T is often described as a straight up and down motion, but I've found that using more of an inverted "V" shaped motion to work better. But, I prefer the circle "C" over the snap T. I find the C moves more line and is easier to control.

Have fun!

Purple Damsel Fly worked for three bass this round today. Was not planning on fishing but there was a break in the rain. So, grabbed the first rod that was handy... was the Switch Rod! Video.

No rain this morning. Made it out hoping to run into more Bass. Instead, it was Bluegill! Pics.
