I have a 96 Mercury 150XR6 that quit charging. I did the tests in the shop manual. I need voltage regulators. Does anyone have experience with an aftermarket replacement. Even Napa wants $220 each. I've seen some cheap ones on ebay and also used oem ones on ebay. Appreciate any feedback.

Also does anyone know if all mercury outboard regulators pretty much the same. I just saw a used one off a 50 horsepower that looks the same as mine. There probably all 40 amp output, but don't truly know.

I use a lot of CDI electronics parts. Their regulators are around 125.00 for your motor. They even repair a lot of electronics: http://www.cdielectronics.com/

Nothin wrong with CDI. Many times aftermarket can be better than OEM. The bean counters at manufacturers lots of time use the cheapest 3rd party stuff they can import. Electronics are one of the places they try to cut costs.
