I'm not looking for any top secret spots, but will be in Galveston the end of July and need some Fly Fishing locations. We are staying near San Luis Pass on the west bay. PM me any info please. I will be armed with a 7wt, kayak, and lots of redfish/trout flies. Lol . Thanks guys/gal!!

EEEEEEARLY morning and hit the jetties. Other than that you're pretty much going to be feeling like popcorn in a microwave. I've tried it a few times but the heat kills the fishing on a dime around 10am.

I caught a few specs in West Bay last month out of my kayak, fishing near the Sea Isle development. I was using spinning tackle because I do not like fly fishing out of the yak. I have heard that the bay fishing close to the pass can be good, but never tried it.

I'd recommend saving some cash and hiring a guide.
There are a number of fly guides down there now.
You have enough time to start penny pinching and save enough for a half day trip.
DIY Galveston is possible, but nothing beats the experience of a guide and the mobility of a boat.
