We rented a house on LBJ over the weekend. It was located off the lake at the end of canal which was nice and quiet. The families next to us and all the kids jumped in the water and came out covered in leaches. Just a heads up folks!!!

I would of put them on a #2 hook w/ 1oz weight and had kitties for dinner!

They've become more prevalent in the Brazos too. Before the last big drought they were rare. During the drought they increased. Now they are common, but still mostly small.
How big were these leeches that got on the kids?

Dealt with 'em daily in Viet Nam. We all survived -- the leeches, anyway. I always enjoyed squirting the insect repellent on them to watch them spew blood. Hated them nasty things. I still have jungle rot scars from leech bites.

We caught a few small channels at Brady this weekend in the creek and they had leeches on them.
