My 10 year old little girl has been fishing in creeks and just playing around but she has never been FISHING. Tonight we are going and she is very excited. We are hitting the Weatherford Barge. I was there earlier checking it out and they were catching some dinks but I will take that if it can get her the fever. In my mind I see us sitting in the hobby room tying jigs together and setting for hours fishing. I am sure the reality is that she is going to be asleep in a chair and I will be working her rigs. At least there is a bright side, because she came I got to bring two more poles......

Wtg dad hope the fish cooperate

It's a small crappie house with just benches, but the clerks and store are very nice folks. Good on you. I used to do the same with my son and daughter at Lewisville Barge. Now only son cares to fish (both teens).

It's the experience that counts. Size of fish doesn't matter (like my mostly dinks at Pier 121 Marina this morning).

It was a great night. We caught 12 dink crappie and 3 perfect eating size catfish. She brought in almost all of the crappie, measured them and released. I didn't let her bait the hook yet but she caught all of the minnows for me and delivered them. She had fun and even said that her and I needed to do this more. I told her that we would. So maybe there is a fire in there.

tonight my wife ASKED TO GO FISHING! So we are doing our date night fishing too. I'm super excited for that. We don't really have any hobbies in common so maybe we can make this ours. I hope we actually catch some so she gets into it.
