Apparently, when all those stripers wash over the dam the crappie fishing really picks up in a year or so. Haven't caught any keeper stripers this year but crappie fishing has been decent all spring. Fished shady docks again last evening. A jig tipped with a minnow was the trick. Got 18 keepers and caught a real nice Largemough bass. Also kept a nice bluegill and threw back a whole lot of keeper sandbass. Didn't catch a single dink until after dark. Guess with all these big bass cruising by they have to be starving before they venture out. Not a very picturesque view of the crappie but the wife went home yesterday and I didn't feel like laying them all out. I should have retired back when I was 30 and had loads of energy. Fish ranged from 10-13 inches. Not seeing any big ones or any white crappie. All crappie I'm catching are black crappie but they seem to be everywhere ( anywhere with shade). Got reports from people out from memorial day that they were getting throw nets full of small crappie when they tried to get minnows, so I think we had an excellent crappie spawn. I've been seeing some very big LM Bass cruising by the docks I fish. Water clarity at PK has to be over 20 feet right now where I'm at. I broke one of my jigs last week after a long fight with some big thing I never got a look at. Never saw the fish so it could have been anything. Hooked this Largemouth right in the middle of a dock and horsed him out where I could wear him down. Bent my Pro Angler rod double several times. Wish I would have bought a Pro Angler rod long ago. As hard as this green thing pulled I figured the 6 lb test Fluorocarbon leader would give way but it held. I let it go. Would have been the fish of a lifetime for a lot of folks this weekend. But Bank fishermen were catching some really nice channel cats from the bank at the cliffs marina. Fishing in general is pretty good at PK right now.

Not this year. Went to Caney Creek once and just caught sandbass. Fishing is too good at PK right now to pass up.

Good report. I use Pro Angler rods too (not exclusively but mostly). Still waiting for one to bend the rod over double.

Yes I did crappiekilla. I have enough tomato stakes so I don't need another wally Marshal. I've broken a half a dozen of them. Pro Angler is the bomb!

I was pulling pretty hard Tom. I wanted my jog back, as my eyes are not what they used to be and tying that jig knot with 6 lb test line is tough.
