Standing timber 18ft. of water seemed to be the magic number but we had to go through probably 75 small fish to get to the few keepers we took home. All of our fish were caught on minnows.

Is everyone catching a lot of small fish or do I need to be looking deeper or fishing jigs for bigger ones? We did both but were not successful.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

I caught at least 50 yesterday and had 11 keepers on jigs. We need heat. Water isn't hot enough to stack them up in the summer spots.

We had 7 or 8 keepers and a nice channel cat to go with them. Enough to make the grease stink!

We caught 7 keepers and a boat load of 9" fish in just 2 hrs yesterday. Had an emergency come up at home and had to leave them biting after only 2 hours on the water. mad

We went yesterday 5/29 and caught only 5 keepers and 2 catfish. We fished minnows and jigs. I fished with jigs from 1/2 inch to 3 inches long and nothing but dinks. The 5 keeper that we did catch were on minnows. I was surprised to see crappie as small as they were hit a 3in jig. Oh well, it's like that at time . We still had fun being on the water.

Same here, catching a bunch of fish but very few keepers, ratio is probably 10 to 1.

So I guess the question is where are all the keeper crappie right now? A few weeks ago, I caught a ton of little crappie on the bridge pilings and one brush in 10-14'. Seems like that pattern hasn't changed much. Are the bigger fish in the standing timber?

Timber is where the keepers are at. If I had a boat that is where I would be looking. Need heat to stack the crappie up everywhere in their summer spots
