I am running out to Toledo Thurs - Sun with a small group and wanted to get the latest on the fishing. It looks like the recent bass champs produced a bunch of 12-16 lb sacks with a few good ones mixed in. Have they started moving out to the summer haunts? Are some staying shallow due to the shoreline cover? First time out there, Just need some general info to point me in the right direction. Thanks. We will be staying at my uncles lake house near the dam, so that end of the lake is preferred.

I fished this past weekend on the south end of the lake. Caught decent numbers but nothing over 4 pounds. Fished from 1-6 feet (grass) with soft plastics. Dont know if there are any giants up shallow still but if you want to get bit there are fish still shallow.

The short answer to both of your questions is yes and yes. Fish are both shallow and deep. Lots of small keepers being caught in and around the hay grass in the area you're staying. But of course there are fish deep in that area also, just have to find them.
