I'm looking to get away from the crappie and bass for a minute and would like to try my new bay boat out and put some refs in the boat. I fished from a pontoon for year but recently bought a Nautic Star to handle some of the Toledo Bend rough water. Any help would be appreciated and would be willing to put someone on a good crappie brush pile of Toledo for a good red or trout trip.

Never fished that area but it covers a lot of territory. A Hot Spot map of the Lake would help in the area you may want to fish. Reefs or shell pads, mouths of canals, near structure etc. I'd like using live shrimp under a slip cork with flurocarbon leader for trout. Another rod rigged Carolina style using fresh cut mullet/shad for reds.

i would start at the jetties first, then move to the La. shoreline where the marsh drains are.

Fish the tides and focus on choke points that will have more current. Sabine Pass is where I plan on trying in November. Add you location to your profile. Locals to where you live tend to help more often than people on the other side of the state.
